Question 1:
A team of engineers from the Department of Mechanical Engineering are task
to design a hoist equipment using a reverted epicyclic gear train shown in
Figure 1. The drum must be keyed at the centre of the arm E using the same
shaft. The pinion gear A is keyed to a second shaft which carries a chain wheel.
Whereas the chain must be operated by hand. The two shafts have common
axis but can rotate independently. The gear wheels B and C are compound and
rotate together on a pin carried at the end of arm E. The gear wheel D has
internal teeth and is fixed to the outer casing of the block so that it does not
rotate. The wheels A and B have 16 and 36 teeth, respectively, with a module
of 3 mm. The wheels C and D have a module of 4 mm.

Two pulleys are run by a common belt. If a 10.8 inch diameter pulley turns at 900 rpm, what is the diameter of the second pulley if it turns at 421 R.P.M.?
Note: Speed is inversely proportional to diameter.
Write and draw the following grashof's criterion and kind of grashof's four-bar mechanism such as;
1. Crank-rocker mechanism;
2. Drag link mechanism;
3. Double rocker mechanism;
4. Crossover-position or charge-point mechanism;
5 Triple rocker mechanism (non-grashof).
Use technical Pen for the following:
0.2(light -for linkages and hand writing),
0.4(medium - for joints),
0.6(heavy - for fixed link or frames)
use 2-4-4 template, all caps, italicized.
