The measure of an exterior

Answer to Problem 41PPS
The measure of each exterior angle is 25.7. and the measure of each interior angle is 154.3.
Explanation of Solution
Given:
The given polygon has 14 sides.
Calculation:
The sum of the measures of exterior angles of a convex polygon, one angle at each vertex is 360.
Also, in a regular 14-gon, there are 14 congruent interior angles.
The exterior angles of a 14-gon are also congruent as angles supplementary to congruent angles are also congruent.
Suppose, the measure of each exterior angle be n.
Therefore,
14n=360n=36014n=25.7
Suppose, the measure of each interior angle be m.
So, m+n=180 , as an interior angle and an exterior angle make a linear pair.
Therefore,
m=180−nm=180−25.7m=154.3
The measure of each exterior angle is 25.7. and the measure of each interior angle is 154.3.

Mary reasoned that she could draw a rectangle around the figure so that the point O was at a vertex of the rectangle and that points A and B were on sides of the rectangle. Then she reasoned that the three smaller triangles resulting could be subtracted from the area of the rectangle.
