- Query language to retrieve information
- The data in the DBMS (Data Base Management system) is made up of three components such as:
- Physical database
- Database engine
- Database schema
DBMS acts as an interface between application programs and the physical data files.
Database Design:
- It is important to design a database because it involves understanding the data relationships, the type of data maintained in the database, data usage, and how the organization need to change to manage data from a company-wide perspective.
- The main two aspects of database design are as follows.
- Physical design – The actual arrangement of database on direct-access storage devices.
- Conceptual design – The abstract model of database from a business perspective.
