A company assembles a product that consists of three pieces called AA,
BB, and CC. The AA and BB parts are manufactured by the company
itself, while the CC parts are purchased from another manufacturer.

The company has 20 machines that can carry out process 1, 5 process
2, 10 process 3, 5 process 4 and 5 process 5. Each machine works a
maximum of five days each week at a rate of fifty weeks a year , in
working days of 8 hours a day. Formulate and solve to determine the
maximum number of assembled sets that you can produce.
DreamInflate is a balloon manufacturing company. Balloon manufacturing consists of seven

costs of $200 per hour. There is more demand than the overall production system can provide.
Based on the information provided, answer the following questions:
• What is the cost of direct labor for balloons?
• How much profit does DreamInflate make every hour? (note that the cost of direct labor
is also a variable cost).
What would the profit of DreamInflate be if the variable costs were 10…

- local market research fim has just won a contract for several thousand small projects involving data gathering and statistical analysis. In the past, the firm has assigned each project to a single member of its highly trained professional staff. This person would both gather and analyze the data Using this approach, an experienced person can complete an average of 10 such projects in an eight-hour day. The firm's management is thinking of assigning two people to each project in order to allow them to specialize and become more efficient The process would require the data gatherer to fill out a matrix on the computer, check it and transmit it to the statistical analysis program for the analyst to complete. Data can be gathered on one project while the analysis is being completed on another, but the analysis must be complete before the statistical analysis program can accept the new data. After some practice, the new process can be completed with a standard time of 20 minutes…arrow_forwardConsider a process consisting of five resources that are operated 8 hours per day. The firm is struggling to keep up with the high demand for its services, particularly during the busy litigation seasons. It has been observed that the lawyers spend a significant amount of their time on administrative tasks that could potentially be handled by paralegals. After a careful study of the work distribution within the firm, it was determined that 35% of the activities carried out by the lawyers are administrative in nature. Given that each lawyer works 50 hours a week, please determine: (a) How many additional paralegals should the firm hire to handle the administrative tasks currently performed by the lawyers? (b) If the lawyers' time spent on administrative tasks is redirected to billable legal work, by what percentage could the firm potentially increase its billable hours?arrow_forwardAnswer the questions based on a 50 demand per day and an 7 hours of working hours Minimum number of work stations to balance this process = 2 Minimum number of work stations to balance this process = 3 Minimum number of work stations to balance this process = 4 Minimum number of work stations to balance this process=5arrow_forward

She has identified four basic activities her employees spend most of the their time on: Interviewing, Hiring, Assessment, and Separation Processing. The department employs 5 staff who perform these activities. The manager provides the following estimates for the amount of time it takes to complete each of these activities: Interviewing: 45 minutes. Hiring: 60 minutes. Assessment: 75 minutes. Separation Processing: 90 minutes. Employees in Personnel work 35-hour weeks with four weeks for vacation. Of the 35 hours, five are reserved for administrative tasks, training, and so on. The costs of the Personnel Department, including any allocated costs from other staff functions, are $972,000. During the year, Personnel conducted 1,200 interviews, made 375 hires, made 3,000 assessments, and had 250 separations.
