Concept explainers
Interpretation: Temperature that 1 degree represents smallest change in temperature to be determined.
Concept introduction: To convert one unit into another then first needs to choose a conversion factor, this cancels the units and omits the units in the result. Relationship between Fahrenheit and Celsius scale is as follows:

Answer to Problem 46A
1 degree performs smallest change in temperature on Fahrenheit scale.
Explanation of Solution
Thus in Kelvin and Celsius scale there are 100 degrees between standard freezing and boiling point. Thus unit of both Celsius and Kelvin scale are same. In Fahrenheit scale standard freezing point is 32 degree and normal boiling point is 212 degrees. Thus there are 180 degrees difference between normal boiling and freezing point. Fahrenheit scale has largest range between boiling and freezing points. On Fahrenheit scale 1 degree perform smallest change in temperature.
In Fahrenheit and the Celsius scales, unit of temperature is called a degree, and the symbol for it is followed by the capital letter representing the scale on which the units are measured
