Interpretation:
The number of each type of atom in each formula is to be determined.
Concept introduction:
When the same kind of more than one group is present, the formula of these types of compounds can be set off in parenthesis with a subscript.
The number of units of the group isrepresented by the subscript.
In order to determine the total number of each type of the atom that are present in the group within parenthesis, multiply the subscript outside the parenthesis by the subscript for each of the atoms inside the parenthesis.
