Transport Layer:
- Transport Layer in Internet model is similar to same layer in OSI model.
- Transport layer establishes end-to-end connection between the network components.
- TCP protocol is used in transport layer.
- Transport layer accepts the input from data link layer, process them and routes the packets or messages to its destination by network layer.
- Transport layer reassemble those packets before sending to application layer.

Transport Layer does the following:
- Transport layer breaks down the large message into smaller units as it can combine those smaller messages to get a longer message at the receiver side. It is known as segmenting.
- It is responsible to link the application layer and network layer.
- Transport Layer establishes the end-to-end connection between server and receiver if the connection is needed. This is known as session management.
- Transport layer also used to detect the messages which have been lost and request the sender to resend the same message again.
