Vehicles arrive at the entrance of the new extension of NLEX. There is a single toll gate at which all vehicles must stop where a toll attendant distribute a trip ticket. The toll opens at 6:00AM at which vehicles begin to arrive at the rate of 8 vehicles per minute. After 20 minutes, the arrival flow rate declines to 2 vehicles per minute and it continues at that level for the remainder of the day. If the time required to distribute the trip ticket is 15 seconds, determine the time the queue dissipates.
11-Vehicles begin to arrive at a parking lot at 6:00A.M. at a rate of eight per minute. Due to an
accident on the access highway, no vehicles arrive from 6:20 to 6:30 A.M. From 6:30 A.M. on,
vehicles arrive at a rate of two per minute. The parking lot attendant processes incoming vehicles
(collects parking fees) at a rate of four per minute throughout the day. Assuming D/DA queuing,
determine total vehicle delay.
Vehicles arrive to the park entrance at a constant rate of 900 veh/hour from
7:30 AM to 8:10 AM and then at a constant rate of 600 veh/hour from 8:10 A.M.
The park opens at 8:10 A.M. and the manager wants to set the departure rate so that the average delay per vehicle (i.e.:
Total delay/total number of arrival) is no greater than 24 minutes (measured from the time of the first arrival until the total queue clears).
Assuming D/D/1 queuing, what is the minimum departure rate (?) needed to achieve this?
What is the total delay at this rate?
What is the longest Queue?
