Concept introduction: The increase in the osmolarity of the blood causes the generation of the thirsty condition. This leads to the release of the antidiuretic hormone from the posterior pituitary gland, which results in the water reabsorption in the collecting duct. The intake of the excess water causes the release of excessive amounts of the dilute urine from the body. The osmolarity of the ions in the blood decreases after the intake of water.
