Explanation The nervous system of humans and most of the animals are composed of neurons and glial cells. The neurons are the functional unit of the nervous system. They transmit the information from receptors to the brain and then back to the effectors for a response. The neural signaling process involves reception, transmission, integration, and action by effectors that bring the actual response. Reception is the process where the sensory receptors receive the stimuli. These receptors are skin, eyes, nose, and ears. Neural transmission occurs when the receptors send the information from one neuron to the other. Afferent neurons carry this signal to the CNS.
