Introduction: Any naturally occurring inorganic substances are termed as minerals. Iron is the most important mineral that provides numerous significant roles in the body. It acts as the major component of hemoglobin (red blood cells) that carries oxygen and transports it throughout the body. Iron should be obtained from the diet, so it is  known as the essential nutrient. A daily dietary intake of 18 mg of iron is recommended. Iron deficiency in the body causes anaemic condition.
