To determine: The mechanism by which the rabies virus causes death in humans.
Introduction: Rabies is caused by highly neurotropic viruses belonging to the family Rhabdoviridae. The rabies virus multiplies in the salivary glands of the host and hence can be transmitted to humans by the bite or contamination of a wound or mucous membrane by the saliva of the infected animal.
