Question
Chapter 36, Problem 9A
To determine
To explain: A magnet weakens when heated or dropped on a hard surface.
Expert Solution & Answer
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
Increasing the temperature or dropping a magnet on a hard surface weakens it.
The magnetic force is developed by moving electric charges. For example, when electrons move inside a conductor, magnetism is produced. When the magnet is hit hard or heated, the electron flow is disordered, and they no longer move in a pattern and thus weaken the magnet.
