Concept explainers
In what direction relative to a magnetic field a charged particle travel in order to experience maximum magnetic force? Minimum magnetic force?
To explain: The direction a charged particle must travel in order to experience maximum and the minimum magnetic force
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The magnetic field which is produced by the current carrying loop is always perpendicular to the direction of the current flow. The magnetic field is absent if there no current is flows inside any loop.
When a particle is moving in the perpendicular direction with the magnetic field lines, it experiences the strongest magnetic force but at some other angles, the particle experiences the less magnetic force or almost zero magnetic force when the charged particle is moving along in the direction of the magnetic field.
Conclusion:
Magnetic force is the maximum when it is normal to the field’s direction while it becomes the minimum when it is acted along in the field’s direction.
