What is meant by a short circuit?
The significance of short circuit.
Explanation of Solution
Introduction:
The resistance opposes the flow of current in the circuit and the current has the tendency to pass from the path of low resistance.
The passage of the high current in electric circuit due to abnormal connection between the supply wires is called the short circuit. The high current in the electric circuit is due to very low value of resistance across the supply wire provided by the abnormal connection.
The amount of the current during short circuit becomes so high that the current may damage the devices in the electric circuit.
Conclusion:
Thus, the passing of high current due to low value of the resistance provided by the abnormal connection across the supply wires is called short-circuit.
