Concept explainers
The type of clouds that can become thunderheads.
Answer to Problem 14RQ
The type of clouds that can become thunderheads is Cumulonimbus.
Explanation of Solution
A cumulonimbus is a form of a cloud that comes under the category of the type of weather and level of cloud in terms of their height in the atmosphere. The water droplets' content capacity of these clouds is more that makes it dense. So, due to high density and powerful air current, carrying more water vapor makes them thunderheads.
The Cumulonimbus is made of two Latin words that are, Cumulus which means collected at a place and Nimbus means rain with the storm, which collectively means as the rainstorm intended at a place that is synonymous to the thunderstorm.
The Cumulonimbus clouds are formed when the air carries water vapor with a powerful upward current. During storming, these clouds are appeared to be thunderheads. So, these clouds are considered to become thunderheads.
Conclusion:
Therefore, the type of clouds that can become thunderheads is Cumulonimbus.
