Chapter 30, Problem 8STP
Summary Introduction
To determine:
The comparison between the two types of bird feathers.
Introduction:
The birds are the warm-blooded animals, which are differentiated by the wings, beak, feathers and most of them have the ability to fly.
Expert Solution & Answer

Explanation of Solution
The two types of bird feathers are flight feathers and contour feathers:
- Flight feathers are found in the wings and tails of the birds. These feathers have one side of vein broader than the other side along with strong barbule. This feature of the feather helps the bords to fly properly.
- Contour feathers are the fancy feathers that give the bird, its color shape and size. They are found on all over the body except for beak and feet. They are comparatively softer and give the bord insulation from the surrounding.
