CP A test rocket starting from rest at point A is launched by accelerating it along a 200.0-m incline at 1.90 m/s2 (Fig. F3.43). The incline rises at 35.0C above the horizontal, and at the instant the rocket leaves it, the engines turn off and the rocket is subject to gravity only (ignore air resistance). Find (a) the maximum height above the ground that the rocket reaches, and (b) the rocket’s greatest horizontal range beyond point A.

- Figure P3.63 4. A grasshopper leaps Figure P3.63 into the air from the edge of a vertical cliff, as shown in Fig. P3.63. Use information from the figure to find (a) the initial speed of the grasshopper and (b) the height of the cliff. 6.74 cm 50.0 Not to scale 1.06 marrow_forwardYou throw a ball from the balcony onto the court in the basketball arena. You release the ball at a height of 8.00 m above the court, with a initial velocity equal to 8.70 m/s at 35.0∘ above the horizontal. A friend of yours, standing on the court 11.0 m from the point directly beneath you, waits for a period of time after you release the ball and then begins to move directly away from you at an acceleration of 1.60 m/s2. (She can only do this for a short period of time!) If you throw the ball in a line with her, how much time ? wait after you release the ball should she wait to start running directly away from you so that she’ll catch the ball exactly 1.00 m above the floor of the court? t-wait=arrow_forwardA disappointed Romeo throws a pebble, with a speed of 16.3 m/s, horizontally from a balcony. It falls 4.14 s before hitting the ground below. Neglect air resistance. a) How high is the balcony from the ground below,b) how far does the pebble travel before striking the ground, and c) at what speed and angle does the pebble hit the ground?arrow_forward
- On a hot summer day, a young girl swings on a rope above the local swimming hole (Figure 1). When she lets go of the rope her initial velocity is 2.35 m/s at an angle of 35.0° above the horizontal. Figure Vo 35.0⁰ < 1 of 1 ▼ Part A If she is in flight for 0.618 s, how high above the water was she when she let go of the rope? - Juliet is standing in front of a wall and Romeo is at a window above her at a height of 3.61 m from the ground. Juliet tosses a box of candy straight up with speed 7.50 m/s from a height of 1.53 m above the ground. Ignore any effects due to air resistance. To receive full marks, you must include a diagram showing the physical situation and your choice of coordinate system. (a) Will the box reach Romeo?
