Concept introduction:
An element is an entity of atoms with the same number of protons in its atomic nuclei. There are 118 elements being identified, out of which, the first 94 elements occur naturally on the Earth with the remaining 24 being the synthetic elements. Chemical elements comprise all the usual matter present in the universe. But the astronomical observations propose that the ordinary visible matter makes up only about 15 % of the matter present in-universe: the remaining is just dark matter, the composition of which is unknown. The history of discovery and the use of elements started with a primitive human civilization that found various native elements like carbon, copper, gold, and sulfur.
