It describe that each electron are moving independently in the orbital, in a field created by all the other orbitals. As per the rules of quantum mechanics, for the systems having only one electron, the energy is associated with each of the electronic configuration and, upon some conditions, the electrons are able to move from one electron configuration to another by emitting or absorbing the quantum of energy, in form of a photon. The structure of periodic table is strongly associated to electron configuration of atoms of the elements.
