Introduction:

Estuary is a water body where one or more river joins the sea. The estuary is a partially covered body and it is the place where the mixing of the sea water and the river takes place.

Explanation of Solution

The estuary is the region where the freshwater and the salty water meets. It has following characteristics.

1. Fresh water gets mixed with salty water.
2. It has brackish water.
3. They have greater diversity of organism as compared to the nearby sea or river.
4. They are ecologically very important because of they inhabit of many organisms.
