Chapter 3, Problem 21CQ
The severity of a fall depends on your speed when you strike the ground. All factors but the acceleration from gravity being the same, how many times higher could a safe fall on the Moon than on Earth (gravitational acceleration on the Moon is about one-sixth that of the Earth)?

To Merge into the highway you need to increase your speed from 50 km/h to 100
km/h. If your car can accelerate at 8.0 m/s², what should the minimum length of the
ramp be? (report your answer in meters)
Your Answer:
Answer
The average person passes out at an acceleration of 7g (that is, seven times the gravitational acceleration on Earth). Suppose a car is designed to accelerate at this rate. How much time would be required for the car to accelerate from rest to 60.0 miles per hour? (The car would need rocket boosters!)
When we estimate distances from velocity data, it is sometimes necessary to use times
t0, t1, t2, t3, . . .
that are not equally spaced. We can still estimate distances using the time periods
Δti = ti − ti − 1.
For example, a space shuttle was launched on a mission, the purpose of which was to install a new motor in a satellite. The table provided gives the velocity data for the shuttle between liftoff and the jettisoning of the solid rocket boosters. Use these data to estimate the height, h, above Earth's surface of the space shuttle, 62 seconds after liftoff. (Give the upper approximation available from the data.)h = ft
