Concept introduction:
Hydrogen bonding is the electrostatic interaction between the hydrogen atom and the electronegative atom such as oxyge, nitrogen, and fluorine.
The structure of the water molecule is bent. The oxygen atom has two lone pairs of electrons. The lone pairs are more repulsive than bond pairs.
Oxygen (O) is more electronegative than hydrogen (H) due to which oxygen attains a partial negative charge and hydrogen attains a partial positive charge when both forms hydrogen bond with each other.
