Introduction:
The gestation period lasts for an average of about 266 days. The contractions of abdominal and uterine muscles of the mother lead to the expulsion of the fetus. There are two major kinds of contractions- Braxton Hicks contractions or false labor contractions, and true labor contractions. Hormones and several other factors have a role in stimulating labor contractions.
