Given information :

Two given angles (4&6) are congruent

Two parallel lines are crossed by a transversal as per the given figure

Formula used:

Vertically opposite angles are always equal

Congruency means same size and same shape

Corresponding angles formed are equal, when a transversal cuts two parallel lines

Proof:

  46      .......(given)4=6   .......(i)   [same size and shape by definition of congruency]

And,

  4=5    ....... (ii)      [vertically opposite angles]

From (i) and (ii), we have

  5=6   ..........       [these are corresponding angles]
