What happens to stream speed if the discharge in a stream doubles while the channel remains the same size and shape?
The effect on the stream speed, if the discharge doubles while the channel remains same in size and shape.
Answer to Problem 6TE
If in a stream the discharge doubles, while the channel remains same in size and shape, then the stream speed will also get doubled.
Explanation of Solution
Stream discharge is the amount of liquid that crosses a given point in a certain time interval. It is given by the area of the stream multiplied by the speed of the stream. In a channel, average stream speed is given by discharge divided by a cross-sectional area. Hence, the discharge is directly proportional to the stream speed. If a stream's area is constant and the discharge is increased, then the stream speed will increase. And if the discharge is decreased, then the stream speed will also decrease. It will increase or decrease by the same factor with which the discharge is increased or decreased.
Conclusion:
Therefore, if in a stream the discharge doubles while the channel remains same in size and shape, then, the stream speed will also get doubled.

The abstract should be a short paragraph that very briefly includes the experiment objective, method, result and conclusion. After skimming the abstract, the reader should be able to decide whether they want to keep reading your work. Both the format of the report and the error analysis are to be followed. Note that abstract is not just the introduction and conclusion combined, but rather the whole experiment in short including the results.
