The two major fluid compartments are an intracellular fluid compartment that includes all the fluid enclosed within the cells of the body. Extracellular fluid compartment: in includes the fluid present outside the cell body. It has one-third of the total body weight. It is further divided into several subcompartments; interstitial fluid and plasma.
