After reaching late 40s, the menstrual cycle becomes irregular and eventually, the cycle stops. The complete cessation of menstruation in females is known as menopause. It occurs after reaching late 40s or early 50s. The term female climacteric is used for the time between the onset of irregular menses and complete stopping of menses.
