Question
Chapter 26.3, Problem 18WDYL
Summary Introduction
To determine:
The type of motility that is primarily responsible for mixing the chyme and accessory gland within the small intestine-segmentation or peristalsis.
Introduction:
The activity of the smooth muscle in the wall of the small intestine has three primary functions. (a) Mixing chyme with the secretions of the accessory gland. (b) Moving the chyme constantly against areas of the brush border. (c) Forcing the food contents via the small intestine to the large intestine. All the given functions assist the chemical digestion and absorption, to employ the peristalsis and segmentation.
