To write:
The relationship between chelicera and pedipalp.
Introduction :
Arthopods make up the largest phylum in the animal kingdom. They include insects, butterflies, moths, etc. They have segmented body and have an exoskeleton with jointed appendage. All these features help them to survive in all type of environments and habitats.
Explanation of Solution
Arachnids include spiders, scorpions, and mites. Most arachnids have a cephalothorax, abdomen and two pairs of jointed appendages. They lack and antennae. The most anterior region of the appendage is modified into a mouthpiece called chelicerae. It is adapted to function as fangs or pincers. The second pair of appendages is used for sensing and holding prey and is known as pedipalps. In male spiders, the pedipalps are used for reproduction. The rest of the four pairs of appendages in arachnids are used for movement.
Chelicera is adapted for defence and pedipalp is adapted for sensing and holding prey in arachnids.
