Summary Introduction

Exotoxins are the group of toxins produced during the growth and multiplication of bacteria. Exotoxins migrate from the infection site to the other sites leading to damage of cells or tissues. A group of exotoxins called as “cytotoxins” damage the cell membrane leading to lyses and death of the cell. Cytotoxins are also referred as hemolysins because their activity can be detected in red blood cells (erythrocytes).
