Question
Chapter 25.2, Problem 1CR
Summary Introduction
A particular disease causing bacteria must adhere/attach itself to the receptor molecules present on the cell surface. This attachment is done with the help of certain structures present on the bacteria in the form of capsules, fimbriae, pili, and flagella. After adherence, the bacteria invades and multiplies in the host tissue, process termed as colonization.

Identify the basic mechanisms of antibiotic resistance in bacteriaand describe what practices encourage their dissemination.
Define selective toxicity. How does the concept of selective toxicity highlight the importance of studying basic microbe structures, genetics, and chemistry? What is the relationship between selective toxicity and the number of antibacterial versus antifungal drugs?
describe three ways in which bacteria may develop resistance to antibiotics.
