Concept introduction:

Proteins are very huge organic compounds.  The structure of proteins is very complex.  They are represented in four levels of structure namely,

• Primary
• Secondary
• Tertiary
• Quartenary

$\alpha$-helix is a secondary structure of proten which has righthand-spiral conformation.  In this there is hydrogen bonding between the $\text{N-H}$ group and $\text{C=O}$ group present in the spiral conformation located three or four residues earlier in the protein sequence.
