Interpretation:

The hexose that results by the hydrolysis of the glycoside bond of phrenosine is to be provided and analyzed; the structural formulas for cerebronic acid and sphingosine are to be drawn.

The simplest hydrolyzed form that is obtained from the carbohydrates is known as monosaccharide. Polysaccharides are those types of sugars which contain more than ten units of monosaccharides.

Hexose contains six carbon atoms and is a monosaccharide having a chemical formula ${\text{C}}_{\text{6}}{\text{H}}_{\text{12}}{\text{O}}_{\text{6}}$.
