Avian flu refers to the disease that is caused by the avian influenza Type A virus. These strains of virus infect the birds but can affect humans in case the affected birds come in contact with them. Swine flu refers to the disease related to pigs. However, this disease can transmit to humans in rare cases. The causative organism for this disease is the influenza A virus. The medium of transmission of this disease is through infected pigs by direct or indirect contact and aerosols.
