Concept explainers
Why nearsighted people look over or under their glasses when they want to see something small up close, like a cell phone screen.
Answer to Problem 10Q
Solution:
They can see near objects without the help of corrective lenses.
Explanation of Solution
The glasses used by the near-sighted people are designed to help them view distant objects by moving the focal point farther back in their eye. The near-sighted person in general have good view for the close objects, whose focus point already lies on the retina. Hence they can usually see the close objects without the corrective lenses. That is why they look under or over the glasses, because they don’t need the glasses to see near objects. And also the near point of near-sighted people can be very close to their eye, so they bring small objects close to their eyes in order to see them most clearly.
