To review:
The ability of antibody fragment F(ab’)2 to prevent the binding of rhinovirus with ICAM-1 receptors on the surface of the host cell and the ability of antibody fragment F(ab’)2 to facilitate microbial phagocytosis.
Introduction:
The antibody is comprised of two arms that are heavy and light chains. The heavy chains are attached by disulfide bonds. The antibodies have two regions, constant and variable regions. ICAM-1 or intercellular adhesion molecule 1 is one of the proteins encoded by gene ICAM-1. This gene encodes the glycoprotein present on the cell surface that expresses itself on the cell of the endothelium and immune system. It is one of the transmembrane protein and a member of a superfamily of immunoglobulins.
