To review:

The fate of neutrophils that enters the site of infection after the resolution of infection.

Introduction:

The inflammatory response helps the immune system to ward off intruders with the help of an elaborate process of leukocyte recruitment. The leukocytes migrate in bulk to the site of infection where they engulf and destroy the microbes. During infection, the leukocytes eliminate the intruder. At the end of the response, the leukocytes are also removed by a specialized mechanism.
