Concept Introduction:

Retro synthetic analysis:

It is the analysis of the synthetic starting materials for a given compound through its precursors or fragments which are known as synthons. The synthons can be obtained by logical cleavage of the chemical bonds in the compounds. The resulted synthons will be therefore known as logical synthons.

Reductive amination reaction:

It is the preparation of amine via conversion of a ketone or an aldehyde into imine in the presence of a reducing agent such as sodium caynoborohydride NaBH3CN .

Reduction of ester with hydride-reducing agent:

Esters can be reduced to yield alcohols on treatment with hydride reducing agent such as Lithium aluminium hydride-LiAlH4.
