Concept introduction:

The glycolysis is a sequence of catabolic reactions wherein glucose is broken down to form 2 molecules of pyruvic acid in the presence of oxygen. The same process yield lactate in the absence of oxygen. Both the processes yield small amount of energy as it is catabolic.
