Friedel-crafts acylation is an electrophilic aromatic substitution reaction. In this reaction, acyl halide is reacted with benzene in the presence of Lewis acid AlCl3. In this reaction, a new C-C  bond is formed between electrophile and nucleophile.

The reducing agent NaBH4 in the presence of ethanol used for the reduction of aldehyde or ketone in alcohol. NaBH4 reduce carbonyl group into a hydroxyl group (-OH).

Elimination of water is taking place in the presence of H3PO4 and heat results in the formation of the alkene.
