Arteriosclerosis is a condition that generally occurs in old age due to the changes in the arterial system. The arteries supply oxygenated blood from the heart to the body parts. The thickness of the arterial wall plays a major role in controlling the pressure of blood flow. The pulmonary artery is an exceptional case that supplies deoxygenated blood from the right ventricle to the lungs for its purification.
