To explain:
The apparent contradiction, as given in a newspaper about gangrene states that the tissue-destroying toxin, lecithinase, is an “organic compound”. But many people consider “organic” chemicals to mean something good.
Introduction:
Gangrene is considered as a medical condition that involves the death of tissue caused by the lack of blood supply. Gangrene is caused due to common infection, wound, and long-term conditions which obstruct the blood supply towards the body parts.
Gas gangrene is a severe form of gangrene, which occurred by bacterium Clostridium perfringens. This bacterium is Gram-positive, spore-forming and anaerobic that can produce organic gas. Clostridium perfringens bacterium enters into the body through soil, unhygienic conditions and open wounds. Gas gangrene causes the conditions of septic shock, muscle damage, necrosis and lysis of neutrophils. It leads to a serious medical condition.

- Explain the nature of Echinolone whether it's a volatile or non-volatile. Since some of your answer says it's volatile and some says non-volatile and make it clear the storage process of the compound Echinolone. Please kindly read the question and answer. Don't write in sake of answering questions.arrow_forwardThe nonprotein heme group sits in the active site of the hemoglobin enzyme. The heme group facilitates the reaction of the enzyme and is required to be present for the reaction to occur. Select the best answer. Question options: Heme is an example of allosteric inhibition. Heme is an example of a product. Heme is an example of a noncompetitive inhibitor. Heme is an example of a cofactor Heme is an example of a competitive inhibitor.arrow_forwardChoose the correct answer from the following 1- The cell membrane is considered semipermeable because: a) It allows the passage of all substances b) It allows the passage of only water c) It allows the passage of some substances while restricting others d) It does not allow the passage of any substances 2- The lipid layer of the cell membrane is mainly composed of: a) Proteins b) Carbohydrates c) Phospholipids d) Cholesterol 3- Integral proteins in the cell membrane: a) Are loosely bound and easily dissociate from the membrane b) pass through the entire thickness of the cell membrane c) Are responsible for the attachment of cells to their neighbors d) Serve as receptor sites for hormones and neurotransmitters 4- The fluid mosaic model of the cell membrane suggests that: a) The membrane is a solid structure with layers of proteins b) The membrane is a fluid with proteins floating within it c) The membrane is composed entirely of lipidsarrow_forward

Use the diagram below to color, label, and write a short paragraph to explain how the chromatography process of separation works. (You can draw and take a picture or you can do this one using this Desmos Link: Desmos to complete this one.) Some people in this neighborhood are experiencing moderate to severe headaches, acute abdominal pain, low red blood cell counts, and in some patients, severe cases have exhibited seizures and kidney failure. My diagnosis is Lead (Pb) poisoning coming from the decomposition of batteries. Describe all clinical, physical and lab tests you might run to confirm your Diagnosis. Based on your diagnosis, describe the appropriate Treatment(s) that may be administered.arrow_forward
- a salad recipe calls for gelatin to be mixed with hot water and then canned pineapple. victoria decides that fresh pineapple would be much healthier, so she adds fresh rather than canned pineapple to the gelatin. her salad turns into a “runny” mess. based on the information from today’s lecture, speculate about possible causes of her disaster.arrow_forwardAlthough nonpolar compounds tend to dissolve and remain in fatty tissues, polar substances are more water soluble, and more readily excreted into an environment where they may be degraded by other organisms. Explain why methoxychlor is more biodegradable than DDT.arrow_forwardThe highly pathogenic anaerobic bacterium Clostridium perfringens is responsible for gas gangrene, a condition in which animal tissue structure is destroyed. This bacterium secretes an enzyme that efficiently catalyzes the hydrolysis of the peptide bond indicated in red: where X and Y are any of the 20 common amino acids. How does the secretion of this enzyme contribute to the invasiveness of this bacterium in human tissues? Why does thisenzyme not affect the bacterium itself?arrow_forward
- Amoeboid cells that migrate through our tissues, such as the class of white blood cells known as neutrophils, often do so in a directed manner, triggered, for instance, by chemical signals released by pathogens such as bacteria. Directed migration in response to a chemical stimulus is known as chemotaxis. Part of an efficient chemotactic response is the ability of cells to polarize. As is the case with our structurally-polar polymers like F-actin or microtubules, polarization here refers to an asymmetry in the cells, rather than an electrical charge. In this case, it involves one part of the cell becoming the “front” (or leading edge) and another the rear. In a well-polarized, migrating cell, it’s been observed that an active form of Rac (which, in turn, can activate ARP 2/3) is concentrated towards the front of the cell, whereas an active form of Rho (which, in turn, can activate formin, inhibit cofilin/ADP, and activate myosin II) is found toward the rear of the cell.
