Summary Introduction

To determine:

Three important functions of triglycerides (neutral fats) in the body.

Introduction:

Triglycerides, as the name suggests are glycerol molecule that is generally combined with three fatty acid molecules. They have important functions in the body such as, they are utilised as a source of energy during starvation.

The liver cells break down the tryglycerides to form energy. The neutral fats also provide insulation to the body by forming a layer under the dermis. The fat layer also serves as a protective agent by absorbing the shock that the body bears and hence preserves the organs from damage.
