Interpretation:

Search the internet to learn about drug trials and answer the following questions. (a) why might a person who is gravely ill not want to participate in a placebo-controlled drug study? (b) what are the advantages and disadvantages of participating in such a drug study? (c) why is it important that studies use placebos as well as the drug test? (d) something the control group receives the standard treatment for the disease instead of a placebo. Why does this happen?

Concept introduction:

Placebo-controlled method are extensively used to develop the new pharmaceuticals. In this treatment evaluation take place of the subjects who are receiving the treatment. It is generally used in blinded trails where subjects have no idea whether they are getting the placebo or the real treatment.
