The third largest class of Proteobacteria is Betaproteobacteria. The Betaproteobacteria enclose an enormous amount of functional diversity. Betaproteobacteria have several characterized species. This includes Burkholderiales, Rhodocyclales, Nitrosomonadales, Methylophilales, Hydrogenophilales, and Neisseriales.
