Ageing causes several changes in both anatomy and physiology of the nervous system. These changes deteriorate the functioning of the nervous system. The efficiency of brain for higher brain functions such as cognition, memory and learning decreases with age. The person’s perception of smell, vision, hearing and balance also deteriorates with age.
