Chapter 15.2, Problem 4BYGO
Summary Introduction

Introduction:

The nervous system consists of nerve fibers, ganglions, and several other neuronal hubs as an integrated circuit. The impulse and neuronal conductivity are passed through this neural integration system. The spinal cord acts as the central nervous system acts as a source from where the nerve fibers arise and they pass through several ganglions and ramus communication to the target organs.

Describe or diagram the structural relationships among the following: preganglionic fiber, postganglionic fiber, anterior ramus, gray ramus, white ramus, and paravertebral ganglion?
There are 2 neurons in the ANS pathway – a preganglionic neuron and a postganglionic neuron.  Describe each neuron (short or long) and what neurotransmitter is released from each neuron.  Describe the neurons for each division of the ANS: (short description, NOT essay )
Describe how depolarisation of a preganglionic parasympathetic neuron leads to the autonomic regulation of an effector organ (e.g. sinoatrial node).
