Introduction:

Phagocyte is a type of immune cell. It has the capability of engulfing and absorbing bacteria and other foreign debris. Phagocytes are the white blood cells that include neutrophils and monocytes. They are involved in the second line defense mechanism of the body. Phagocytes undergo six stages during the process of phagocytosis, namely chemotaxis, adhesion, ingestion, phagosome maturation, microbe killing, and elimination.
