Summary Introduction

To review:

Whether the statements apply to the endocrine system more or nervous system; rapid, discrete responses, long-lasting responses, also controls growth and development.

Introduction:

The human body comprises of many biological systems such as the reproductive, circulatoryendocrine, urinary, respiratory and nervous system. All these systems perform an independent function and play a considerable role in the human body.

Explanation of Solution

The nervous system basically regulates the hands and muscles activitythrough the electrochemical impulses, which are delivered by the neurons. Neurons are known to respond within milliseconds. Hence, the responses are rapid and discrete.

Endocrine system, on the other hand, is very different and it influences the metabolic activity by the means of hormones. Hormones are known to be the chemical messengers generated by the cells into the extracellular fluids. Such messengers move through the blood and manage the metabolic function of other cells present in the body. This system is more closely linked with the growth and development. The responses of this system are known to be long-lasting.

Conclusion

Therefore, it can be concluded that the nervous system responses tend to be discrete and rapid while the endocrine system is more closely linked with the development and growth.
